Settling In

We make leaving your little one feel a little easier

Choosing a nursery is a big decision — and so is leaving your child with people who, at first, are strangers. That's why our settling-in period is entirely individual to each child.

We believe it's just as important to settle the parent as it is the child — little ones pick up on adult anxiety quickly. That's why we encourage parents to stay on the premises during the settling period, so you can see and hear exactly what a normal day at Clever Cloggs looks like.

You're not handing your child over to a closed door. You're stepping into a community.

Helping Your Child Settle In

A trusted face, from day one 🤗

During the settling period, the room supervisor is your main point of contact for the first two weeks. As your child explores the room, we quietly observe who they form a natural bond with — and that person becomes their dedicated key person.

At the heart of our approach is John Bowlby's theory of attachment — the idea that when babies and children form strong, meaningful attachments, every part of their development benefits.

Attachment is a long-lasting psychological connection with a meaningful person — one that brings pleasure during interaction and comfort in times of stress. The quality of that attachment has a powerful effect on a child's psychological well-being for years to come.

Our Pedagogy

An environment where children feel secure, valued, and loved 💛

Bowlby believed children have an innate need to form a close relationship with one main figure — usually the mother, and in a nursery setting, their key person. When that need isn't met, it can have lasting consequences on a child's development, confidence, and emotional well-being.

That's why everything we do — from how we structure the rooms to how we recruit our team — is built around this idea. Our robust recruitment process ensures we hire staff who genuinely share our beliefs about continuity of care.

The proof? Our current team has been employed at Clever Cloggs collectively for 97 years. That kind of consistency is rare — and it's what makes the difference.
